While many of his candidates fail, Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis celebrates a historic victory. He is dangerous to Donald Trump in the fight for the presidential candidacy.
There was one Republican who had a triumphant election night last night – and it wasn’t Donald Trump.
Ron DeSantis, Florida’s Republican governor, won his re-election by a 20 percent landslide victory over his Democratic challenger. And that in a state that has long been considered swing state was notorious for its close votes.
When DeSantis was celebrated by his supporters in Tampa, they shouted: “Two more years.” Two more years. A dig at Trump. A governor’s term lasts four years, but DeSantis has long been viewed as Donald Trump’s most hopeful contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
