Romain Bardet will be well surrounded on the Giro – DSM Team
The too hostile route of the Tour de France 2021 with its endless kilometers of time trial pushed Romain Bardet on a path that the French would have liked to explore a year earlier: the Giro. His new team, DSM, has announced the list of eight riders who will race the Giro d’Italia from May 8 to 30, and the 2nd in the Tour 2016 is one of them.
The 30-year-old Frenchman – time flies – will team up with Australian climber Jai Hindley, second in the last edition of the Giro in October behind Briton Tao Geogheghan Hart.
8th in Tirreno Adriatico
Bardet had planned last year, while still racing for the team of his beginnings (AG2R La Mondiale), to discover the Giro. But the disruption of the calendar due to the pandemic had led him to review his plans and line up in the Tour de France, which he had been forced to leave prematurely due to a concussion.
Since the beginning of the year, the Auvergnat has favored training courses with its new training. In competition, he notably participated in the Strade Bianche (20th) and Tirreno-Adriatico, where he took 8th place in the final standings.
