Rolf Kalb, a commentator on snooker broadcasts for many years and a quirky one-off on German sports television, is retiring.
Rolf Kalb has maintained his farewell phrase over the decades. “Your Rolf Kalb,” says the commentator at the end of every snooker broadcast, whether he has sat in front of the microphone for many hours at a World Cup final (that can be ten to twelve) or just at a smaller tournament. He wants to use the first name of a few viewers, but the majority of the audience he wants to use the first name name, that was always important to Kalb. And that’s how he will do it now, in his last tournament, which has been taking place in Sheffield, England since Saturday and runs until May 6th.
