A few hours before his controversial concert in the Olympiahalle, the Pink Floyd co-founder secretes an outlandish, outrageous message. The city of Munich could do more to prevent performances by artists with questionable statements.

Roger Waters made a mark on Sunday. A few hours before his concert in Munich’s Olympiahalle, he published a video showing him and his wife sitting on the edge of the graves of Sophie and Hans Scholl and Christoph Probst. He also published a message in which he linked the resistance of the members of the group “White Rose” against the Nazis to the resistance of the Palestinians against the State of Israel. He described both – the Nazis who systematically murdered millions of times as well as the nation state and refuge of the Jewish people – as “tyrannically racist regimes”. An absurd, outrageous equation that shows how far the 79-year-old has gone astray. Sending such a message out into the world in such a way at such a time is a deliberate affront.
