The Foo Fighters have announced three festival dates for May and June. At the end of 2022, the band had announced that they wanted to continue making music after the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.

US rock band Foo Fighters are planning to return to US festivals for the first time since the death of their drummer. The band will be headlining Sonic Temple, Boston Calling and Bonnaroo events in May and June, the musicians said on their Twitter account on Tuesday. At the end of the year, the band announced they would continue making music together after drummer Taylor Hawkins died in March 2022.

“Over the past 27 years, our fans have built a global community, a devoted support system that has helped us all get through the darkest of times together,” the statement read on December 31. “Without Taylor we would never have become the band we were – and without Taylor we know we will be a different band going forward.”

The band has not yet announced who will take Hawkins’ place on drums in the future. At two memorial concerts in September, his seat was taken by a variety of musicians, including Blink-182’s Travis Barker, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Devo’s Josh Freese and Hawkins’ son Shane.

Taylor Hawkins was found dead in a hotel room in Colombia’s capital Bogotá on March 25 while on tour. The cause of death was not disclosed. However, a forensic examination found various substances in Hawkins’ body, including marijuana, antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioids.
