The Axel-Springer-Verlag brings “Focus” editor-in-chief Robert Schneider to the editor-in-chief of “Bild”. This was announced by a spokesman for the media company. “Johannes Boie brings Robert Schneider as another editor-in-chief to ‘Bild’.” Schneider will report to Boie, who will remain editor-in-chief and chairman of the ‘Bild’ editors-in-chief.
Burda confirms termination
The “Spiegel” and the industry service “Medieninsider” had previously reported on upcoming changes in the editor-in-chief of Germany’s largest tabloid. A spokesman for the media company Burda, to which “Focus” belongs, confirmed when asked by the dpa news agency that Schneider had terminated his employment.
Boie took over the position of “Bild” editor-in-chief in October 2021. Before that he worked as a culture editor at the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” and was editor-in-chief of the “Welt am Sonntag”. Boie’s predecessor Julian Reichelt was relieved of his duties as “Bild” boss after allegations of abuse of power and affairs with employees.
