Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff, Razer co-founder and gaming mouse pioneer, has died at the age of 81.
Kraków passed away on April 26, 2022 and Razer shared a message on Twitter announcing the sad news.
“We are saddened by the passing of co-founder and chairman emeritus Robert Krakow, known to all as RazerGuy,” Razer wrote. “Robert’s unwavering drive and passion for gaming continues to inspire and inspire us all. Thank you Rob, we will miss you.”

As I mentioned the edge, Krakoff was instrumental in bringing the first gaming mouse – the Razer Boomslang – to market in 1999. At the time, Krakoff was working for Kärna, a company that had developed an “opto-mechanical encoder wheel that could track mouse movements at 2,000 dpi far beyond the resolution of other mice at the time.”
Kraków did not create a file razer boomslang, But he was a key figure in making this happen, along with a marketing agency called Fitch He founded the Razer brand we know today. This includes the name, the Three Headed Snake logo, the website, the packaging, and the design and construction of the Boomslang mouse.
Karna went bankrupt in 2001 and Krakow founded Razer in 2005 alongside current Razer CEO Min-Lian Tan.

He was also a published author under the name RM Krakoff, having written dozens of books ranging from fantasy to non-fiction since 2009.
Kraków is survived by his wife Dr. Patsy Krakow, her two children, Scott and Robin, and five “very adorable” grandchildren.
