The nationwide incidence has risen to a peak for the fourth day in a row and is now 528.2, according to the Robert Koch Institute. The incidences are particularly high in the north. The number of corona intensive care patients is also increasing again.
It is the fourth high in a row: With 528.2 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has again reported an increase in the nationwide seven-day incidence. The previous day the value was 515.7, a week ago it was 375.7.
The highest incidences are recorded in the northern federal states – led by Bremen with a value of 1389.3 and Hamburg with 805.8. The capital also continues to report high values. In Berlin, the incidence of 947.7 is just below the 1000 mark. The lowest incidences are currently in Thuringia (197.9, Saxony), Saxony (248.5) and Saxony-Anhalt (280.4).
RKI registers 52 more deaths
The health authorities in Germany reported 34,145 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. A week ago there were 25,255 new cases.
According to the information, 30 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there had been 52 deaths. This increased the number of people who died from or involved a proven infection with the corona virus to 115,649.
Number of infections exceeds eight million
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI has registered 8,000,122 proven infections with SARS-CoV-2. However, the actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.
The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants – the so-called hospitalization incidence – within seven days was given by the RKI on Friday at 3.23 (Thursday 3.09, Wednesday 3.13). It had risen again for the first time in a few days. The federal and state governments had set this value in November last year as the decisive benchmark for tightening the corona measures.
Virologist striker: Numbers will continue to rise
