The corona numbers have continued to rise nationwide. The incidence is now 23.5. However, there are major regional differences. The numbers are often high, especially in northern German states.
The seven-day incidence in Germany continues to rise. According to the Robert Koch Institute, it is 23.5 – yesterday the value was 23.1, a week ago it was 17.9.
The health authorities reported 2,480 new corona infections within 24 hours. A week ago the value for Germany was 1766 infections.
However, there are major regional differences. The seven-day incidence ranges from 1.2 in in the Sommerda district in Thuringia to 64.2 in the Pinneberg district in Schleswig-Holstein.
Rising values in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein
It is noticeable that the incidence values are currently comparatively high, especially in the northern German federal states. In Schleswig-Holstein the value has almost doubled within a week. The incidence there is currently 44.1. A week earlier the value was 24.9. In Hamburg, too, the corona curve is pointing steeply upwards again: from 34.4 last Tuesday to 59.4 now. The school holidays have now ended in both federal states.
So far, the incidence has been the basis for many corona restrictions, for example as part of the federal emergency brake that expired at the end of June. In the future, however, other values such as hospital admissions should also be taken into greater account. Chancellor Angela Merkel and the prime ministers of the federal states want to discuss this in a video conference at noon.
The head of intensive care medicine at the Hamburg University Medical Center Eppendorf (UKE), Stefan Kluge, said in the Conversation with the NDR: “We must certainly continue to rely on the incidence, but also on other parameters.” In Hamburg there are currently a lot of infections in the younger population groups from 15 to 30 years. “If we had a lot of infections among those over 40, we would of course expect more intensive care patients,” said Kluge. “At the moment, however, it is still manageable and very clear.”
Günther rules out another lockdown
Schleswig-Holstein’s Prime Minister Daniel Günther emphasized on Monday that he would also be with the corona numbers continuing to rise again excludes a lockdown in his state – but not stricter hygiene rules. As an example, the CDU politician named test obligations for unvaccinated people and a possible extension of the obligation to wear a mask.
Despite rising corona numbers, you have a situation that is manageable, Günther continues. There is no reason to be alarmed – but attentive. In contrast to the past, you have a completely different situation. 58 percent of the population in Schleswig-Holstein are fully vaccinated, the occupancy in the hospitals is low.
