There are also more and more corona infections among schoolchildren: According to the Conference of Ministers of Education, around 23,000 cases were known in the past week. More than 50,000 children and young people were in quarantine.

According to the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) in Germany, around 23,000 corona cases were recorded among schoolchildren in the past week (KW44). As can be seen from the KMK’s regular statistics on the pandemic situation at schools, around 54,000 children and young people were also in quarantine.

Accordingly, the corona numbers also rose recently among schoolchildren. In the previous week (week 43) the number of infected people was still around 18,700, and 36,000 children and adolescents were in quarantine at the time.

However, the information can only be compared to a limited extent, as no figures are reported from countries with school holidays. In addition, the federal states do not receive feedback from all schools.

1800 cases among teachers

The statistics for calendar week 44 are based on feedback from the federal states from almost 24,000 general education schools and vocational schools with around 8.5 million pupils. No figures were reported from Baden-Württemberg because of the holidays. In calendar week 43, the number of pupils in the schools included was around eight million. In total there are around eleven million pupils at around 40,000 schools and vocational schools in Germany.

The statistics also recently showed around 1,800 corona cases among teachers and around 1,100 quarantine cases. This is based on information on 741,000 teachers. According to a recently published Forsa survey, 95 percent of teachers in Germany were fully vaccinated by the end of September.
