The cucumber is an extremely sensitive vegetable. She does not like pressure, is sensitive to damp weather and prefers a pre-cooled container when transported. The information service of the German transport insurers therefore recommends a “travel temperature” of 7 to 12 degrees for cucumbers. Driving in this way with air conditioning consumes a lot of energy, which means diesel for the transport vehicle – and that’s really expensive at the moment.
