Rising prices for heating, refueling or in the supermarket: According to Greens boss Ricarda Lang, citizens should be relieved with an “energy money”.

In view of the rising energy prices, calls for relief for citizens and companies are becoming louder.

Federal leader of the Greens, Ricarda Lang, told the “Bild am Sonntag”: “Many people suffer very acutely from the rising prices, when heating, at the pump or in the supermarket.” “Energy money” must be paid out to all citizens as soon as possible. “This means that everyone has more money in their account, and people with little money benefit the most.” The immediate child bonus and the abolition of the EEG surcharge, which the coalition had decided, were not enough.

The President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), Siegfried Russwurm, told the newspaper: “The federal government must protect not only consumers but also industrial companies.” In his words, politicians should reduce energy and electricity taxes as quickly as possible and support companies with electricity network charges.

Russwurm warned against an import stop for Russian raw materials. “In the event of a gas embargo, the industry is threatened with forced shutdowns. Companies are already worried about production stops and a loss of competitiveness,” he said. Several federal states had also asked the red-green-yellow federal government to provide further relief for consumers and companies.
