Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand is surprised that Jadon Sancho cannot show his performance from BVB times with the Red Devils.

Jadon Sancho has lost his lightness in the Manchester United jersey after losing the BVB was one of the outstanding players in the Bundesliga. Last season was unsuccessful and the 22-year-old hasn’t been able to deliver consistently strong performances this season either. This surprises Rio Ferdinand, who longs for Sancho from the Bundesliga.

Jadon Sancho has experienced a kind of roller coaster ride so far this season. The Englishman scored important goals against Liverpool and Leicester City in the Premier League but failed to repeat those performances. He had already raised hopes in club legend Rio Ferdinand.

“What’s going well is that he scores goals. He gets into those areas, which I like. You want your wingers to go in up front and score goals,” the former defender praised Sancho a few weeks ago YouTube-Channel.

Ferdinand puzzles over Sancho crisis

Now Ferdinand has apparently changed his mind again. He described the player’s form as “worrying” and puzzled over the reasons for this. “Is it the way the team is set up? Is it the pace in the premier league? Is he being asked to do more defensive work so that when he has the ball on offense he doesn’t have the energy he needs?” he wondered at his YouTubeshow (via DailyMirror). Ferdinand also noted that Sancho’s “scoring rate is not particularly good compared to other players in his position”.

Ferdinand is absolutely right about that. Eight goals and three assists in 48 United games are definitely not the world and far from his Dortmund quota. Ferdinand admitted that Sancho first had to adapt to the league, but thought he was already on. “Okay, it looks like we have the Sancho we bought from Dortmund,” he thought to himself. Now, however, he urged Sancho and his team to “find a way to decode his game and his spirit” in order to find the Sancho who had wowed the whole of Europe. “He has there [in Dortmund] wonderful things, but didn’t transfer them to the Premier League,” criticized Ferdinand.

Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland are good examples of how different getting used to a new league can be. A lot probably has to do with the club. Most United players end up falling short of their claims and performances from days gone by.
