Sweden is voting next Sunday and it will not be like any other election. The news that caused the most excitement in the past few days: The right-wing populist Sweden Democrats (SD) have overtaken the largest opposition party of the middle-class moderates in the polls for the first time. It’s a bit as if the AfD left the CDU behind shortly before a federal election and is now getting ready to determine the fate of the country. With the difference that the Swedish far right has an even more unsavory past than the AfD.
