Right-wing extremists discovered at “Grenzgang” near Guben – police intervene – BZ Berlin

In action against a so-called border crossing by right-wing extremists on the German-Polish border, the police tracked down around 30 suspects on Sunday night. These people are part of the right-wing extremist splinter party “The Third Way”, the police said.

The party had called for the action to take action against migrants on the border. The people who were found near the village of Groß Gastrose had all been sent off for the border region around Guben in the Spree-Neisse district.

The police wanted to patrol the area through the night in order to prevent further such actions and to check compliance with the evictions. In the event of violations, those concerned would be taken into police custody.

According to the police, around 120 people are holding a vigil to protest against racism and for a human right to asylum in downtown Guben. The registered action should last 24 hours until Sunday afternoon.

“We don’t want to leave the region to the neo-Nazis. We want to set an example that asylum is and will remain a human right, ”said a message from the organizers. The police are on site with numerous emergency services and work closely with the federal police, as a spokesman emphasized on Saturday.

According to their own information, the Federal Police registered 3751 unauthorized entries with a connection to Belarus for the current month by Thursday. Many of the migrants and refugees arriving there come from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Seehofer: If necessary, further strengthen protection at the border with Poland

In view of the current situation, Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer has given the prospect of deploying additional federal police officers in the border area with Poland “if necessary”. “At the German-Polish border we have already reinforced the border guard with eight hundred federal police,” said the CSU politician of BILD am SONNTAG. “If necessary, I am ready to step up there even further. We will closely control the border area and the green green with Poland. “

Seehofer also made it clear that border controls could be considered there if necessary. “Last week we announced the extension of the controls at the German-Austrian border for a further six months in Brussels. If the situation on the German-Polish border does not relax, it must be considered whether this step has to be taken in coordination with Poland and the state of Brandenburg. ”This decision will be made by the next government.

There are actually no stationary border controls at the borders between the 26 countries of the Schengen area. However, exceptions are possible in particularly dangerous situations. Seehofer said in the interview that if possible there should be no more border controls within Europe. “But that only works if the external border protection works.”
