“Mortar” steps in front of the altar again

Richard Lugner is getting married for the sixth time. At his birthday party he put a ring on his loved one, Simone Reiländer.
The Austrian builder Richard “Mörtel” Lugner (89) wants to step in front of the altar again. Without further ado, he turned his birthday party on October 10 into an engagement party. As the daily newspaper “Kurier” reports on its homepage, Lugner put an engagement ring on his girlfriend Simone “Bienchen” Reiländer (39) in front of the assembled guests. A wedding date is not yet known.
“Cupid, he grabbed me like that,” said Lugner as an introduction to his surprise. He absolutely wants his loved one to move to Vienna with him soon so that they can get to know each other even better: “It’s time we got engaged.” Then, according to the report, he pulled the ring out of his suit and put it on his Simone’s finger – without even asking her permission. Only when the guests applauded and asked, the visibly perplexed Simone also said “Yes”.
Lugner: “I made a mistake”
Lugner later told the “Kurier” about his faux pas: “I made a mistake, I just put the ring on her finger and she was there as a fiancé without being asked because I had clarified that with her beforehand.” Lugner explained her cautious reaction by saying that Simone has not yet been in the public eye.
For Lugner it would be the sixth marriage. Most recently, from 2014 to 2016, he was married to Cathy “Spatzi” Schmitz (31), who is 57 years his junior. Lugner and his new girlfriend Reiländer have been in public since June 2021. The two met through a dating call in the newspaper.
