Snow and ice lead to numerous traffic accidents
Beware of ice! Weather-related accidents occur especially in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Snow and slippery roads caused traffic accidents in some parts of Rhineland-Palatinate yesterday. In Koblenz, two of them suffered four minor injuries, the police said.
In most cases, however, there was property damage, trucks standing across and broken-down cars, some of which also led to blocked roads, as it was said.
The police in Worms counted a total of nine accidents in their area of operation on Friday evening that were due to snowstorms. In Koblenz, the police recorded 25 accidents from the early afternoon, which resulted in significant body damage.
Numerous broken-down vehicles were reported to the highway maintenance departments throughout the day, which, according to the information, made the clearing and gritting work extremely difficult.
