Birds of paradise, prostitutes and aristocrats – a casting is looking for people who want to embody these in a historical series. Anyone who can walk in high heels as a man has an advantage.

Drinking and dancing at the beginning of the 20th century: for excessive scenes in a historical series Rhineland 300 extras and small actors wanted. They are supposed to embody the guests in a “variety show-like” inn around 1900, as the responsible casting agency explained.

In the series, “both heterosexual and homosexual or queer artists, intellectuals, theater people, actors, cross-dressers, birds of paradise, prostitutes and aristocrats would frequent the establishment called “Deutsche Eiche,” said agency co-owner Gregor Weber the German Press Agency in Cologne. We are looking for a cast for all of these roles. “Police officers, male violinists, trumpeters and double bass players as well as men who can walk in high heels” would also be cast. For certain small actor parts, the agency is also looking for women who enjoy dancing and young men who want to play suitors.

Long hair and mustache

Those interested are advised to let their hair grow. Because visually you should fit in with the time – for men a full beard or mustache was welcome, for women at least shoulder-length hair. A major obstacle, on the other hand, would be plucked eyebrows, dyed or highlighted hair, a sunbed tan or extremely bleached teeth. The exact title of the series was not initially announced.

People aged 17 to 70 are invited to the casting. Filming is scheduled to begin in the second half of April in the greater Cologne area. Applicants can enter their details online and upload three photos. The corresponding page can be found at www.casting-eick.de. Application deadline is April 26th.
