Review: Trio around Dave Holland in the Munich concert – Munich

There isn’t much on Jaleel Shaw’s sheet music. A song title like “Homecoming” maybe, a few chord abbreviations, a few notes. A note like “one melody before the bass solo”. That’s all you need to find your way around music. Jaleel Shaw plays in a trio with Dave Holland and Eric Harland, two structural giants of jazz. Although there are still compositions. They form the framework of the concert, but are only points of reference. This is not a new way of working in modern jazz. But you can rarely see it implemented so perfectly.
