Word has gotten around that every beginning, even if it has magic in it, is difficult. This applies to the opening bars of classical works as well as to the beginning of artistic direction in a traditional ensemble. There was therefore great curiosity as to what would become of Johanna Soller’s first Christmas oratorio with the Munich Bach Choir. And this became an intimate, concentrated, meditative performance with which Soller shows the Bach Choir’s path into a new phase.
