A semi-staged performance of Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” with the Attacca Youth Orchestra of the Bavarian State Orchestra – at first glance that sounds like a nice affair for young musical talent. Until one thought later, one realizes what a huge work this fairytale opera is. The entire podium in the Prinzregententheater is set up for the immense orchestral apparatus and is soon filled with young musicians. The auditorium is also full. A great backdrop for this pre-Christmas performance.
