Florian Neuhaus is playing again for Borussia Mönchengladbach after his injury. Daniel Farke is flirting with a double six idea.

Over the last few months, Florian Neuhaus had to fight back after his injury. Now Daniel Farke can count on the thinker and driver of Borussia Mönchengladbach again.

In mid-November, Florian Neuhaus suffered a cruciate ligament injury. It quickly became clear that he would not be able to play for Gladbach in the next few months.

Now, with the turn of the year behind him, he returned to the pitch. After training normally again and being able to play in the previous friendly, he played again in the friendly against Arminia Bielefeld (4-0). The 25-year-old made a good impression right away. And that despite the fact that he, in a previously unfamiliar way, played together with Julian Weigl on the double six.

“Flo was out for a few months after his injury. It was important for us to give him many minutes of play in different positions,” explained Daniel Farke about trying out different roles (via picture).

The Fohlenelf coach was satisfied with the Neuhaus comeback. He started all six league games under him before he was sidelined by injury.

Since he has already shown “proper” performances in the test match, it can be assumed that Neuhaus will at least get the chance to regain his place in the starting XI.

There he could then play regularly with Weigl. “Of course, with Flo and Julian we have a lot of ball possession because two technically good players in a lower position also harmonize well together,” Farke already toyed with this idea. For Neuhaus, that’s a good idea anyway, because he “likes to have the game in front of him” and can therefore “influence it by shifting and feeding the offensive with balls”.

The coach seems to have a clear plan in mind. However, it is still questionable whether he will implement this directly for the league restart: “Of course Flo still has a little way to go before he is in his absolute top form, he was away for months.”

“But he’s doing very well, he’s also making a good physical impression. Of course, Flo still has to get the feeling for the game back. He can definitely be an issue for the squad against Leverkusen,” said Farke, looking forward to the next matchday.
