Retailer is pairing Nvidia GPUs with $100 Steam gift cards

The US dealer Micro Center currently combines all RTX 4000 graphics cards with Steam credit. This indirectly makes the offered models cheaper by 100 US dollars. In the case of the RTX 4070, this indicates that there is still potential for the price in Germany.

The PC market is currently developing in a positive direction for gamers: numerous processors and graphics cards have recently become cheaper, and even newly introduced products are available below their RRP after a short time. Compared to previous years, when products were often unavailable for months or only available at inflated prices, the current situation is relatively relaxed.

Bundle with Steam Gift Card

Of course, falling prices don’t happen because you want to do the players a favor. Instead, too little demand compared to the production volume is likely to be the cause. Manufacturers and dealers have to make an effort to make the products more attractive to customers. Price reductions are not the only option, bundles are also often used.

The US dealer Micro Center is now breaking new ground in this regard: All RTX 4000 graphics cards are currently not combined with a free game, but with Steam credit. Specifically, customers should receive a $100 Steam gift card with every purchase of a Geforce RTX 4000. This is obviously not a collaboration with Nvidia, because there is no comparable campaign at other retailers.

Micro Center currently mainly offers RTX 4070 graphics cards, with the cheapest models being right at the MSRP ($599). If you deduct the $100 Steam credit, the graphics cards would be around 17 percent cheaper than the RRP – and that’s a week and a half after the release of the model. The retailer probably got the gift cards from Valve a little cheaper, but the campaign shows that there is still potential for the price.

In Germany, on the other hand, such a discount has unfortunately not been observed to date. Here, too, the RTX 4070 could not keep its RRP of 659 euros for long. The is currently particularly cheap Gainward RTX 4070 Ghostwhich is current in the PCGH price comparison is listed from 606 euros. Compared to the RRP, this is “only” a discount of eight percent.
