The vitamin D supply in Central Europe is still problematic. The German Society for Nutrition e. V. recommended daily intake of 20 micrograms for children, adolescents and adults is often not reached. Problem: even with regular intake of vitamin D supplements, the vitamin D level can often only be maintained but not increased. The decisive factor is not the vitamin D level in the blood, but the effect of this prohormone in the organs. To do this, vitamin D must be bound to the DNA together with the retinoic acid. Only then can the DNA produce the corresponding proteins that the body needs for regulation. Well over 1000 genes are controlled by vitamin D. Studies show that resveratrol improves the binding of vitamin D to the corresponding receptor on DNA.
