resumption of traffic at Gare Montparnasse and Gare du Nord in Paris, some residual delays

SNCF had a difficult start to the weekend in Paris. Trains departing from and arriving at Gare Montparnasse and Gare du Nord suffered significant delays this Friday evening due to power supply problems. Traffic has resumed Saturday morning but there are still residual delays assures the SNCF. It is the rupture of the catenary in Saint-Arnoult in the Yvelines which is at the origin of the disturbances. Some trains were up to 6 hours late.

More delays at Montparnasse station this Saturday morning

Gare Montparnasse, the one that serves the Atlantic part of France, around forty TGVs suffered delays, up to six hours for some, due to a power supply problem. The fault observed in Saint-Arnoult, in the Yvelines, caused delays in the service of the entire western part of the network. Some travelers had to sleep in a train converted into a dormitory in the station.

The SNCF ensures this Saturday morning that the catenary concerned was repaired overnight but there may be “residual delays”.

Two days of disruption in a row for the Gare du Nord

After seeing all the traffic being disrupted the day before because of a torn catenary
it was a new power supply fault that severely disrupted traffic at Gare du Nord on Friday. “A TGV has a power supply fault, due to an incident on an electrical installation. It is blocked on a track at the exit of the station”SNCF told France Bleu Paris.

At 10 p.m., departing from the Gare du Nord, five trains were experiencing between 30 minutes and 2h30 late. Traffic is normal this Saturday morning.
