Results of the federal election in the district of Starnberg – Starnberg

Michael Kießling from Landsberg defends his direct mandate in the constituency of Starnberg, Landsberg, Germering and remains a member of the CSU Bundestag in Berlin for another legislative period. The Greens achieve a result in the Starnberg district that is well above the national average, while the SPD candidate Carmen Wegge remains far below – and could still move into parliament. And the AfD would have to fear moving into the Bundestag if it were only up to the voters in the Starnberg district.

In his constituency, Kießling received 38.2 percent of the first votes and the CSU received 32.1 percent of the votes cast in the second. The Greens came second in terms of numbers. Direct candidate Martina Neubauer from Starnberg got 19.9 percent, with the second votes it was 18.1 percent.

Despite her poor personal results, the SPD candidate Wegge from Munich, who started in 20th place on the list, expects a mandate in the Bundestag. The nationwide good performance of your party could be enough. But that wasn’t certain late in the evening. Other direct candidates such as Britta Hundesrügge from Gauting from the FDP, who was in 18th place on the state list, and Martina Neubauer had to come to terms on Sunday with the fact that it would probably not be enough for them to enter the Bundestag.

On the evening of the election, a good 20 representatives from the CSU, the Greens, Free Voters and AfD came to the Starnberg district office to follow the results from the polling stations in the communities in the districts of Starnberg and Landsberg as well as in the city of Germering on a large screen. The SPD met in a bar in Germering. A total of almost 226,000 eligible voters were called to cast their votes in constituency 224.

Less than half an hour after the polling stations closed, the first results could be seen on the screen in the meeting room of the Starnberg District Office. The first results were reported from communities in the Landsberg district. A tendency became clear early on. With his first vote result, direct candidate Kießling is way ahead of the result that his party achieved with the second votes. In a district of Finning in the Landsberg district, for example, it reached more than 50 percent. Another effect becomes clear: where the Greens are strong in the Starnberg district, the AfD is weak. The party comes to 6.1 percent in the constituency.

He could be very satisfied with his election result, says CSU candidate Kießling, although this time it was worse than four years earlier, when he still came to 42 percent. And District Administrator Stefan Frey (CSU) also explains: “I’m very satisfied with the result in the district.” He attributes the result primarily to the level of awareness of the candidate Kießling and the fact that Starnberg is a “bourgeois district”.

According to the preliminary result, Kießling achieved a particularly good result in the municipality of Berg, where it came to 44.3 percent. For the Greens, the municipality of Weßling again proved to be a stronghold, where they came to 24.9 percent, the direct candidate even to 29.1 percent. The SPD performed best in Gilching with 17.3 percent, worst in Berg with 11.5 percent. The 47-year-old MP Kießling has already passed a legislative period in Berlin. The graduate civil engineer and former mayor of Denklingen wants to continue to deal with the subject of construction as a member of parliament, he announced.
