The “Koru” (IMO 9857298) is a very young ship – and yet the mega-yacht can look back on an eventful history: there were disputes with the citizens of Rotterdam during construction (you can find out more here), and later it was difficult to find one even in fairly large ports Find a suitable parking space (find out more here).

Nevertheless, there is apparently not enough space on board the “Koru” to accommodate all the accessories for an extensive luxury trip – which is why the ship is always accompanied by another yacht on which the billionaires’ junk has enough space (you can find out more here) . It is therefore hardly surprising that this small private fleet attracts a lot of attention and onlookers paddle their nutshells close to the two colossi to gawk and admire.

Tourism minister asks for “utmost respect” for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez

It can be assumed that Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez do not always greet the many observers. The couple’s stay in certain regions is now even prompting state authorities to ask the population for leniency. Again “Antigua Observer” reports, this is apparently currently the case in Antigua and Barbuda.

The Minister of Tourism there, Charles Fernandez, commented on the stay of the two ships, saying: “We warmly welcome Mr. Jeff Bezos and his wife as they enjoy their vacation in our beautiful twin island nation. The appeal of ‘Koru’ is undeniable, but we ask everyone “For your understanding and utmost respect for your privacy during this special time.”

It is interesting that Fernandez explicitly speaks of “wife”, even though Bezos and Sanchez are only engaged but not married. The stay on the yacht is probably not a honeymoon. It is also unclear whether the two are currently on the ship – they were last seen on Boxing Day in Miami, where Bezos is currently making his home (you can find out more here).

People meet in the Caribbean

At the beginning of December, the “Koru” made its way from Florida to the Caribbean, where it has been sailing around ever since, changing islands again and again. The area around Sint Maarten, Saint Kitts and Antigua and Barbuda is a popular destination for luxury yachts of all kinds at this time of year, as well as cruise ships.

While the “Koru” has apparently switched off its tracking signal, the “Abeona” can be found (IMO 9899349), the shadow ship of the Bezos yacht, currently off Dominica under Guadeloupe.
