Resort in the Algarve: Not real life, but pure relaxation

Now that winter is coming to an end, our author travels to the Algarve in Portugal to recharge his batteries.

Slowly the tension is released. I’m lying by the pool in the sun and looking at the Atlantic. Hear the calls of the children in the water, they don’t bother me, on the contrary. Take a deep breath. It smells of pine trees, flowers, grasses. Completely different than at home, somehow softer. And I think: finally! Finally no more winter. No cold, no darkness, no worries.

The evening before I arrived in the Algarve with my wife and child, just under an hour and a half drive west of Faro. We stay for ten days in a large resort near Sagres, with hotel rooms and holiday homes, spa, restaurants and childcare. A relaxation bubble with all-round care far away from everyday life, perfect for families like us. There are many places like this in Europe. I know this isn’t real life. But we have just enough of that.
