Science is rarely neutral. Whether the researchers involved pursue their work out of curiosity, in search of truth or for the sake of pure knowledge, there is a risk of instrumentalization. If there is just a little bit of social relevance in the data and specialist publications, it will be appropriated, exaggerated or concealed.
