8:20 am: Foiled attack by a drone near Moscow
The mayor of Moscow reported on Sunday that a drone attempted to fly towards Moscow and the attack was foiled. “He was thwarted by the air defense forces”, wrote on Telegram Sergei Sobyanin, thanking “the military for their work”.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, quoted by the TASS news agency, the drone was detected over the Stupinsky district in the Moscow region, while heading towards the capital. It was destroyed by electronic means and crashed in a deserted area, without causing any casualties or damage, the ministry said, denouncing an attempted “terrorist attack” by the “Kiev regime”.
TASS also reported that the Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports serving the Russian capital had been temporarily closed.
