It was a disaster scenario that caught the eye of onlookers on Saturday: rescue services and firefighters practiced the coordinated approach to a serious traffic accident.
“Staff work and mass emergencies of emergency patients” was the name of the large rescue exercise organized by the Malteser in Gräfelfing, in which rescue workers and volunteer fire brigades from the entire district took part, as well as the Munich fire brigade and the Großhadern clinic.
The scene of the accident was Fürstenrieder Strasse in Planegg. The staging required quick communication between the various assistants and well-considered interventions.
A huge wheel loader crashed head-on into a bus, which then tipped on its side, a delivery van drove up from behind, and there were around 30 passengers in the bus, some of whom were seriously injured.
They had lacerations and protruding bones painted on them with stage make-up. The biggest challenge was gaining access to the jammed bus to rescue the injured.
The activists were followed by a large number of observers who documented every exchange of words and every action for subsequent evaluation. A total of around 300 actors were involved.
