Of course one can also despair of Switzerland and its political system. This makes it possible, for example, for the population to enforce a ban on building new minarets – although there are considerable human rights concerns about this. Or take the ballet about Switzerland’s relationship with Europe: The actually close relationship has been in ruins since Switzerland broke off negotiations on a fundamental framework agreement with Brussels – without having a plan B, mind you.
