Despite injury: Senegal apparently wants to take Sadio Mane to the World Cup in Qatar at all costs. Accordingly, the superstar should return from FC Bayern in the third group game against Ecuador.
Sadio Mane injured his fibula in the Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen and will probably not be fit for them either WM be in Qatar. The superstar should still be in the final squad from Senegal.
Without Sadio Mane, Senegal’s hopes of progressing to the World Cup would be significantly diminished. The superstar from FC Bayern injured his right fibula head on Tuesday evening and is with it unlikely to be fit for Senegal’s group games.
Senegal hoping for Mane’s return in third group game
However, the medical team of the Senegalese national team wanted to get their own picture of Mane’s injury first. As RMC Sports Now reported on Wednesday evening, the 30-year-old should travel to Qatar one way or another.
The report said Senegal would be willing to sacrifice Manes’ place in the squad and hope the attacker would be fit again by the third group game. Then it’s against Ecuador and thus against what is supposedly the biggest competitor in the group for second place; there is probably no way around favorite Netherlands anyway.
Should Senegal qualify for the round of 16, the chances of Mane playing in the finals will increase.
