Defense Minister Lambrecht has promised Ukraine more arms supplies. 16 systems of the wheeled howitzer “Zuzana” are to be delivered to Kyiv next year, she announced in the Report from Berlin on.

Immediately after her return from Ukraine, Federal Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht Report from Berlin announced new arms deliveries to Ukraine. “We will continue to get involved in a variety of ways, as we have done up until now, together with partners,” said the SPD politician Report from Berlin.

“That’s why we will be able to deliver 16 systems of the wheeled howitzer ‘Zuzana’ to Ukraine next year, financed by Germany together with Denmark and Norway and produced in Slovakia,” she announced. According to information from ARD Capital Studios the announced delivery of the “Zuzana 2” type wheeled howitzer has an order volume of 93 million euros. Delivery to Slovakia is therefore planned for next year.

“Iris-T SLM” system should come quickly

Yesterday, during a visit to the Ukrainian port city of Odessa, the defense minister promised her counterpart Oleksiy Resnikov to bring forward the delivery of the first unit of the already promised ground-based Iris-T SLM air defense system. This should come in a few days. Even the Bundeswehr does not yet have the modern system.

However, the Ukraine also demands main battle tanks such as the modern “Leopard 2” and armored personnel carriers from Western countries such as Germany. Such tanks could be of use to Ukraine in advances and recapture of territories. So far, however, no NATO country has delivered western-style main battle tanks.

Lambrecht relies on ring exchange

in the Report from Berlin Lambrecht defended this position. Since Ukraine needs help quickly, ring exchanges for battle tanks via countries like Greece or Slovakia are the means of choice. “We will always coordinate with our partners,” she commented on the government’s line.
