There are numerous political prisoners in Ewin prison. Demonstrators jailed for taking part in recent protests are also being held here. Now a fire has broken out here.

In the evening, fire is said to have broken out in the notorious Ewin prison in the Iranian capital, Tehran. This was reported by the daily newspaper “Shargh” via Twitter. The cause of the fire is therefore still unclear. There is also talk of shots and explosions in the detention center on social media. Among other things, a video was also distributed, but this cannot be verified.

In the Ewin prison in northern Tehran there are not only numerous political prisoners, but also demonstrators who have been imprisoned there because of their participation in the system-critical protests of the past four weeks. There has been no official information about the incident so far.
