Rennais Stadium. “Abline, a round trip”, a banner and homophobic chants

Obviously it’s a derby, despite the regrettable absence of Nantes supporters in the Roazhon Park area. The rivalry exists and perhaps maintained, but should the Roazhon Celtic Kop (RCK) hold up a banner “Abline, a one-way trip”, to the attention of the young Stade Rennais striker loaned to FC Nantes?

The message is not very fine, but the homophobic insults taken up in chorus by the ultras of the Mordelles stands go beyond the limits. They resemble those heard at the Parc des Princes a week earlier during the Classic against Olympique de Marseille.

Songs whistled by the stadium

They are targeting a 20-year-old young man, who was wrong to say that he was happy to wear the Canaries jersey. As lamentable as those of the Lyon supporters when Barcola came into play with PSG against OL, a few weeks ago.

What will the Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra say, she who had requested sanctions against Parisian supporters? The rest of the stadium has already reacted by whistling this display of misplaced hatred.

One thing is certain, the RCK which has stood out until now for its quality tifos, like the one deployed at the start of the meeting, and the atmosphere it creates at Roazhon Park, is not illustrated in the best way and risk sanctions.
