The successful “Bridget Jones” films are to receive a fourth part. That’s what Renée Zellweger says about a possible comeback.

Actress Renée Zellweger (53) could soon be back in front of the camera as Bridget Jones. As reported by The Sun, producers are said to be working on a fourth film about the popular bachelorette. They “always knew there was a huge market for a sequel,” an unspecified source told the British newspaper. Now is “the right time” has come. Fans would “need to know” what has happened since 2016, when the last film in the series came out.

The fourth film is set to feature Bridget Jones in her role as a mother “with her rapidly growing son,” reports The Sun. Production is said to start later this year. The third part, “Bridget Jones’ Baby”, released in 2016, ended with the birth of her son. The father turned out to be the lawyer Mark Darcy (Colin Firth, 61) and not her lover Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey, 56). A newspaper headline at the end also revealed that the sleazy Daniel Cleaver had been found alive after his alleged death. A return of Hugh Grant (61) does not seem impossible in the fourth part of the film series.

Renée Zellweger on Bridget Jones: “I love her”

Renée Zellweger said earlier this year on the “Jess Cagle Show” on SiriusXMthat she would like to play her signature role again: “I hope so. I hope so. I mean, it’s fun, you know, she’s so funny.” She added: “I love her.”

The “Bridget Jones” films “Bridget Jones: Chocolate for Breakfast” (2001), “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Madness” (2004) and “Bridget Jones’ Baby” (2016) are based on the novels of the same name by the author Helen Fielding (64). Leading actress Renée Zellweger was nominated for an Oscar and two Golden Globes for her role as Bridget Jones.
