It’s the first day of the last week. A step towards the Champs-Elysées which may prove decisive, Tuesday July 18, with a 22.4 km time trial between Passy and Combloux (live on France 3 and france.tv from 1 p.m.). An exercise where every detail counts. With only ten seconds between Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) and Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates), the suspense is total for the final victory.

The first kilometers of the day will immediately set the tone with the Côte de la Cascade de Coeur, not listed in the mountain classification, but which will offer a first selective raid. After about ten kilometers downhill or on the flat between the two intermediates, this 16th stage will take the Domancy coast, already taken in 2016 (already on a time trial won by Chris Froome yellow jersey) and 2021 by the Grande Boucle. But this time, Domancy will serve as justice of the peace, in an infernal final: 2.5 kilometers at 9.4% then an arrival towards Combloux of two kilometers at more than 5%.
