Five minutes of madness
The Blues secured their victory thanks to a fanfare end to the first period. Kadidiatou Diani first opened the scoring with a dry strike at the edge of the area (41st), before Sakina Karchaoui doubled the lead with a penalty obtained by Grace Geyoro (45th+4). Even though they were jostled in a balanced start to the match, the French returned to the locker room with a significant advantage.
A cunning defense without Fox
Without its captain, Wendie Renard, the French defense held on, despite the reduction in the score of Giulia Gwinn (82nd) on a penalty, after a handball from Amandine Henry. The Griedge Mbock-Maëlle Lakrar hinge proved intractable, preventing the Germans from excelling other than on long shots.
And now Spain
After beating Germany for the first time in official competition, the French will try to win a very first trophy against Spain, Wednesday evening in Seville. The task will be difficult against the reigning world champions, led by stars Aitana Bonmati and Jenni Hermoso. Both also scored in a semi-final won handily against the Netherlands (3-0) at the same time.
