For too long, the SPD has allowed the relief packages not to focus on the needs of the recipients – and that has consequences: dissatisfaction with Scholz’s work as chancellor is growing.

The plans of Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his SPD were ambitious when they took over the leadership of the traffic light government in 2021: they wanted to initiate no less than a social democratic decade that would allow the tired, partly distorted social democracy in Germany to flourish. It will soon be the anniversary of the victory in the federal elections, but there is almost no sign of this social democratic decade.
