The game between SpVgg Unterhaching and Energie Cottbus for promotion to the 3rd football league was temporarily interrupted on Sunday due to fan riots.

When the score was 1-0 for Unterhaching, Cottbus fans threw flares, beer mugs and iron bars onto the pitch about 20 minutes before the end of the game.

Within seconds, dozens of police officers were on the field and used tear gas. Energy trainer Claus-Dieter Wollitz and President Sebastian Lemke went to their own fans and tried to calm the situation. The game was suspended for several minutes. The Unterhachinger coached by Sandro Wagner had won the first leg 2-1.
