The good news: The top wellness hotels were able to maintain their high level even after more than two years of the corona pandemic. This is the conclusion of the latest edition of the “Relax Guide 2023 Germany & South Tyrol“Not a single hotel awarded lilies – the quality seal of the industry – had to close due to the effects of the crisis,” said managing director Eva Werner at the presentation of the 22nd edition of the wellness bible for the German-speaking area.
Among the winners in the latest ranking are the Jagdhof Röhrnbach and the Haubers Naturresort in Bavaria, as well as the Elztalhotel in Baden-Württemberg. “Despite the crisis, these houses have continued to invest and very cleverly converted or expanded or expanded their offer,” says Werner.
But the massive rise in energy prices is putting pressure on wellness hotels and, along with the lack of qualified staff, is currently the biggest challenge for the industry. Guests are already having to reckon with price increases. However, only five out of a hundred Lilien hoteliers stated that despite higher room rates, they had not experienced any lower occupancy or sales declines.
20 points and four lilies as the highest award
As always, only houses that are rated with at least 13 out of a maximum of 20 points are included in the guide book. Of the preselected wellness hotels, only around 13 percent were awarded at least one lily. Six houses were rated slightly worse than in the previous year. Eight wellness hotels have reopened in Germany, four of which have been awarded lilies.
