It is a small town located south of Nantes, on the border between Loire-Atlantique and Vendée. At the beginning of December, the village of Corcoué-sur-Logne was the scene of a rare but particularly worrying breakdown. While a man suffered a heart attack, the defibrillator installed near the town’s sports hall refused to work, presumably due to a battery problem.
The victim’s family, a 57-year-old man, decided to file a complaint against the municipality, as reported West France. The facts took place on the morning of December 11 at the victim’s home, under the eyes of his wife. Too weak to perform effective cardiac massage, the latter had called the neighbors. A rescuer would have had the idea to go get the defibrillator. But the latter never worked.
A ten year old device
Hospitalized in a very serious condition, the man victim of a heart attack had been plunged into an artificial coma seemed doomed. It was when his wife came to say goodbye to her that her husband started talking to her, proving the miraculous improvement in her health.
According to the municipality, the faulty defibrillator had been installed more than ten years ago. During the last check in September, the device still seemed to be working.
