Friend or cat? Sometimes the choice is not difficult

A woman moves in with her boyfriend, but he doesn’t get along with her cat. The comments from the online community prompted one user to part with her partner because of this.
Many pet owners have an extremely close relationship with their pet – sometimes even closer than with friends, partners or family members. But what if you really have to choose between the cat and the partner because the two seem incompatible? This was the question faced by a young woman who shared her story on Reddit.
The user says she is 24 years old and has been a loving cat owner for a long time. Her friend, on the other hand, has never got along with the animal, she reports: He kept showing that he wished she would get rid of the cat. However, she had never really taken these statements seriously – and had never even considered that a problem would arise from it. But that was the case when the user and her boyfriend moved in together.
What to do if the friend detests the cat
He moved into her apartment, where the cat also lived. Before that, he actually asked whether she would not part with the cat: “I told him that I would not give her under any circumstances,” reports the woman. This initially seemed to clarify the situation. Then it escalated when she happened to overhear her friend talking to the cat in a malicious tone.
Her friend did not notice that she had come home and was alone in the kitchen with the animal, reports the user on Reddit. “You are so damn worthless,” he hurled at the cat. “I’ve never heard him speak with such malevolence, he sounded like a different person,” explains the author of the post. She then freaked out and threw her boyfriend out of the apartment.
“She deserves to be treated like a princess”
Later, however, she began to have doubts. The couple was reconciled again, and the cat also calmed down. The man said he felt reset because his girlfriend’s cat appeared to be more important. And the woman sought advice from the online community: she wanted to know whether she had behaved correctly to make such a scene on her boyfriend because of his behavior towards the pet. The feedback, however, was quite clear: most of them showed understanding for their anger.
A little later, the woman posted an update on her Reddit account, stating that she had broken up with her boyfriend. The decisive factor was obviously his hostile attitude towards her cat, but also the realization that she had made too many compromises with him. The comments of some users: inside would have opened her eyes. Your cat deserves not only to be tolerated, “she deserves to be safe and to be treated like a little princess by everyone who lives with me”.
