Wavy paper protrudes from a cardboard box. There is an amplifier next to it. It smells musty in this windowless basement in Giesing. “In our case, only the carpet was wet. In other rooms, the water was centimeters high on the floor, and in some it dripped from the ceiling,” says Thomas Willecke. The drummer has with his Luke Tower Band rented one of the 36 rehearsal rooms under the inconspicuous inner courtyard on Alpenstrasse. No, they had rented it because, like all tenants, Willecke and his band had their contract terminated at the end of October due to water damage. As a result, around 50 Munich bands suddenly lost their base.
