The situation remained “strongly degraded” in November on five metro lines and three RER lines in the Ile-de-France region, Ile-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) said on Tuesday, even if the recovery plans initiated by the RATP are starting to show signs of improvement. first encouraging results.

The public transport organizing authority in the Paris region deplores very unsatisfactory regularity in the metro on lines 3, 6, 8, 12 and 13, “still in great difficulty” with less than 85% regularity. On the other hand, line 7, which was in the red in October, improved significantly, “approaching 90% regularity at rush hour” in November.

Difficult month on the Transilien side

The “recovery plans” launched by RATP at the request of IDFM “are already showing initial results”, welcomed the organizing authority in a press release. On the rest of the metro network, all lines “are close to their objectives”, or even exceed them, like the 14, automatic line. Its extension, south towards Orly and north towards Saint-Denis-Pleyel, must be inaugurated in June, just in time for the Olympic Games.

“SNCF, for its part, had a difficult month of November due to storms Ciaran and Domingos,” added IDFM. Many Transiliens – the commuter trains in Ile-de-France – have seen their regularity deteriorate due to preventive traffic stoppages. “The lines were heavily impacted from November 2 to 4” with trees falling on the tracks, IDFM said.

RER in difficulties

On the RER side, on the other hand, lines B, C and D are still in difficulty, with 80% to 82% regularity. The president of IDFM, Valérie Pécresse, “reminds the RATP and the SNCF of the need to quickly deal with all the lines in difficulty, and to succeed in running all the trains and metros ordered”, underlined the authority organizer.

Valérie Pécresse will bring together an exceptional IDFM board of directors on January 29, during which the boss of the RATP, Jean Castex, and that of the SNCF, Jean-Pierre Farandou, will have to present “the progress of the recovery in progress”.

According to IDFM, the causes of the difficulties remain unchanged: “unavailability of drivers (absenteeism which disrupts production and recruitment), then the difficulties of maintaining RATP infrastructure, and maintenance of rolling stock, as well as the increase in suspicious packages” .
