Regional train with 500 passengers evacuated – Bavaria

The busy route between Munich and Rosenheim is closed for the time being for Christmas travel. A tree fell into the track bed near Grafing in the Ebersberg district in the afternoon and a regional train from Salzburg collided with the tree. All 500 passengers had to leave the train and no one was injured.

According to a spokeswoman for the Bavarian Regiobahn, an overhead line was damaged in the collision – the fellow passengers were escorted off the train and taken to Grafing by bus. The fire department and an emergency manager from the Bavarian Regiobahn are still on duty.

Travelers currently have to be patient on the route, said the spokeswoman. It would take quite a while before operations would return to normal. Until then, trains to and from Salzburg will go via Holzkirchen. Trains from Kufstein currently run to Aßling, turn around there and return to Rosenheim.
