A 32-year-old is in custody for allegedly dumping a pan full of cooking oil over his ex-wife. She was flown to a special clinic with life-threatening burns. Two children were also injured.

Because he is said to have tried to kill his wife with hot oil, a man from the Upper Palatinate is in custody. As the police announced on Monday, the woman was initially in mortal danger after the incident on Friday in Regenstauf (Regensburg district). In the meantime this is no longer the case. But she was not able to be heard.

Her 32-year-old husband, who lives separately, is said to have poured hot cooking oil over the woman in the stairwell of an apartment building. A helicopter flew the 30-year-old to a special clinic with severe burns. Two small children of the two had to be treated with minor injuries in the hospital.

According to the police, the man initially stated that he stumbled with the pot full of oil and accidentally poured his wife over it. According to the police, however, there are indications that the man acted intentionally. The 32-year-old was arrested and brought before an investigating judge over the weekend. He issued an arrest warrant on suspicion of attempted murder and assault.
