Regensburg: Fire in old town – six-figure damage – Bavaria

During a fire in an apartment building in Regensburg’s old town, two people were rescued from the smoke-filled building by emergency services. The fire late Tuesday evening caused damage estimated at 400,000 euros, a police spokesman said on Wednesday. Accordingly, the fire broke out in an apartment on the first floor – probably in the kitchen – for an initially unknown cause. According to the Regensburg fire department, four apartments and the stairwell were heavily smoked.

Emergency services rescued the two people from the second floor. According to the fire department, the residents on the other floors left the building independently or with the help of the police patrol. Nobody got hurt. According to a police spokesman, one of the apartments was uninhabitable due to the fire. The investigation into the cause was ongoing.
