The Initiative Against the Right held a rally in Regensburg to protest against Gloria Fürstin von Thurn und Taxis and against right-wing extremism. When asked by the dpa news agency, the 64-year-old entrepreneur did not comment on the rally. In a statement to “Radio Charivari” she said she regretted “the denigrating accusation of having made right-wing extremist statements.” According to the police and organizers, between 300 and 400 people took part in the action.
According to a spokesman for the initiative, the background to the demo is research carried out by t-online.de, South German newspaperNDR and WDR announced event of the Union of Values with Hans-Georg Maaßen in July 2023 in the rooms of Emmeram Castle, at which a participant of a meeting of radical right-wingers in Potsdam in November is said to have been present.
The rally in front of the castle was therefore under the motto “Stop Gloria – smash right-wing cliques!”. The anti-right initiative accuses von Thurn und Taxis of having contacts with “various extreme right-wing” actors and demanded: “Your word must no longer have any weight.” The speakers also criticized the nobles’ “difficult statements” on topics such as homosexuality and abortion.
The 64-year-old referred to “Radio Charivari” to her “very diverse (today we say diverse) circle of friends and culture.” Unfortunately, today anyone who does not represent explicitly left-wing positions is automatically exposed to accusations of right-wing extremism, according to Thurn and Taxis. “However, this trivializes true and very dangerous right-wing extremism, such as the horrific anti-Semitism that is horrifyingly evident on our streets these days.”
